Commercial Kitchen and Foodservice Equipment Configurator

A foodservice equipment configurator lets dealers, kitchen consultants and reps build a valid unit, a range, oven, fryer, refrigerated cabinet or custom stainless fixture, and price it in one pass. Ignitionary does this for commercial kitchen equipment manufacturers: size, fuel, voltage, options and fabricated dimensions checked against your rules, with quotes that carry the spec sheet, utility requirements and BOM.

What gets configured on foodservice equipment

From catalog appliances to custom fabrication

Cooking equipment

Ranges, ovens, fryers, griddles and broilers: width, burner or element layout, oven bases and controls.

Fuel and utilities

Natural gas or propane, electric voltage and phase, and the gas input or electrical load that follows.

Refrigeration

Reach-ins, prep tables and undercounters: size, door and drawer layout, compressor location and pan configuration.

Custom fabrication

Worktables, sinks, counters and hoods: length, depth, gauge, backsplash, drainboards, undershelves and cutouts.

Mounting and mobility

Legs, casters, stands, stacking kits and plinth or wall mounting.

Options and accessories

Finishes, knobs and controls, water filtration, pan sets, and installation kits.

Rules a foodservice equipment configurator enforces

Foodservice quotes go wrong on utilities and fit: the wrong gas orifices, a unit that needs a circuit the kitchen does not have, or a fabricated table that does not fit the line. These are the rules manufacturers typically encode, with limits from their own designs and listings.

  1. Utilities follow the selections. Gas type selects the orifices and regulator, and voltage and phase select elements and wiring, so the quote states the gas input and the electrical load the site must supply.
  2. Only listed combinations are offered. Where a unit is listed for safety or sanitation in specific configurations, the rules keep options inside those configurations, using the listing data your compliance team maintains.
  3. Fabrication stays buildable. Custom lengths, gauges, bowls and cutouts are checked against your sheet sizes, bend limits and support spacing, and the BOM and cut list follow from the dimensions.
  4. Stacking and mounting fit. Stacking kits, stands and casters are only offered for units and weights they are rated for.
  5. Line-up and hood sizing. When a cook line is configured, appliance widths are summed against the space and your hood sizing rules, so the hood quoted covers the line it serves.

When a rule fails, the configurator names it and shows the value against the limit, so a dealer sees why a combination is unavailable before the order reaches the factory.

What the shop and the customer get

Every output comes from the same validated configuration

Outputs

  • Priced quote with dealer pricing
  • Spec sheet with dimensions and utility requirements
  • Fabrication drawing data and cut list for custom work
  • Bill of materials and routing for production
  • Order data for your ERP
  • STL export where a 3D model is set up

The demo configures tubular heating elements, a component inside many foodservice appliances, with the same live validation a range or fryer needs

Ignitionary live demo: tubular heating element configurator with engineering validation, 3D preview, BOM and export options
A heating element configured in the live demo, the kind of component inside fryers, ovens and dish machines.

At the heating element manufacturer in our customer story, 200+ engineering formulas were encoded across 30+ product types, and quoting fell from 30 to 45 minutes to 3 to 5 with zero calculation errors since go-live.

Custom stainless work shares rules with cabinetry and custom product builders; refrigeration shares them with HVAC equipment. For the buying decision, see how much CPQ costs.

Frequently asked questions

A foodservice equipment configurator is software that builds a valid commercial kitchen unit or custom fabrication from size, fuel, voltage and options, checks it against the manufacturer's rules, prices it, and produces a quote with a spec sheet, utility requirements and BOM.

Yes, especially where units are sold through dealers and kitchen consultants with many size, fuel and option combinations, or where custom fabrication is quoted from dimensions. CPQ lets the channel quote valid units and sends the factory orders it can build.

Yes. Lengths, depths, gauge, bowls, backsplashes and cutouts are configured against your fabrication rules, and the BOM, cut list and price follow from the dimensions.

Yes. The configurator can run in a dealer or consultant portal, or embedded on your website, with channel-specific pricing, while the rules stay the same as the factory's.

Plans start at $1,500 a month with up to 5 sales seats and one product line. Implementation starts at $10,000 for a fixed-scope first product line. ERP and CAD integration are priced separately; see the pricing page.
