CPQ Software for Motor Manufacturers
CPQ software for motor manufacturers turns a motor request into a valid configuration, a price and a quote: output, speed, voltage, frame, enclosure, efficiency class, mounting and options, checked against your engineering rules as they are picked. Ignitionary does this for electric motor makers, with cost-based pricing from your BOM and routing, and quotes that carry the datasheet, dimension data and BOM the customer and the shop need.
What gets configured on a motor quote
The selections that turn a catalog motor into a specific, buildable unit
Output and speed
Horsepower or kW, pole count and synchronous speed, and 50 or 60 Hz supply, which together set the electrical design and the frame.
Frame and mounting
NEMA or IEC frame, foot, C-face or D-flange mounting, shaft dimensions and conduit box position.
Enclosure
TEFC, ODP, TENV, washdown or explosion-proof construction, matched to the environment the motor will run in.
Voltage and winding
Voltage, phase and connection, dual-voltage windings, insulation class and service factor.
Efficiency and duty
Efficiency class, continuous or intermittent duty, and inverter-duty construction for VFD operation.
Accessories
Encoders, brakes, space heaters, thermal protection, bearings, special paint and nameplate data.
Engineering rules a motor configurator enforces
A motor quote goes wrong when a combination looks fine on a spreadsheet but cannot be wound, fitted or sold. These are the rules manufacturers typically encode; the limits are yours, taken from your design data.
- Frame follows output and speed. Each output and pole count maps to the frames your designs support, so a rep cannot put a 100 hp, 2-pole motor in a frame you do not build it in.
- Enclosure follows the environment. Hazardous-location requirements restrict the enclosure and certification options, and washdown service restricts materials and seals.
- Minimum efficiency by market. Where regional rules set a minimum efficiency for a motor type, such as US Department of Energy standards or EU ecodesign rules, the configurator only offers compliant efficiency classes for that destination.
- Inverter duty follows the drive. Selecting VFD operation and a speed range pulls in inverter-duty insulation, and can add shaft grounding or insulated bearings above the thresholds your engineers set.
- Accessories fit the frame. Brakes, encoders and blowers are only offered where the frame, shaft extension and enclosure can carry them, and they add their own lead time.
When a rule fails, the configurator names it and shows the value against the limit, so the rep can change the selection or hand the request to engineering with the reason attached.
What the shop and the customer get
Every output comes from the same validated configuration
Outputs
- Priced quote with list, discount and margin
- Motor datasheet with ratings and performance data
- Nameplate data
- Dimension data or drawing for the frame and mounting
- Bill of materials and routing for production
- STL export where a 3D model is set up
Connected systems
- ERP items, costs and sales orders
- CRM opportunities and quotes
- Drive and gearbox catalogs for packaged units
- Distributor and OEM portals
- CAD automation for drawings
See the approach in the live demo
The demo configures tubular heaters, not motors, but the behavior is the same: a rule fails, and the configurator shows the value and the limit

At the heating element manufacturer in our customer story, 200+ engineering formulas were encoded across 30+ product types, and quoting fell from 30 to 45 minutes to 3 to 5 with zero calculation errors since go-live.
Motors are often quoted as part of a larger package; see the pump and fluid handling, conveyor and compressor pages for how the motor selection feeds those. For budgeting, see how much CPQ software costs and the CPQ ROI calculator.
Frequently asked questions
CPQ software for motor manufacturers configures an electric motor from output, speed, voltage, frame, enclosure, efficiency class and options, checks the combination against engineering rules, prices it from cost data, and produces a quote with a datasheet and BOM. It replaces spreadsheet selection and manual pricing.
Yes, from rules you define. Output, pole count and supply frequency narrow the frames your designs support, and mounting and shaft options are limited to what that frame allows. Requests outside the rules are routed to engineering.
Yes. You encode which efficiency classes are allowed for each motor type and destination market, and the configurator only offers compliant options. The rules come from your compliance team; the configurator enforces them consistently on every quote.
Yes. The same configurator can run on your website or a distributor portal with distributor pricing, so standard motors are quoted without a call to the factory while special requests still reach your engineers.
Plans start at $1,500 a month with up to 5 sales seats and one product line. Implementation starts at $10,000 for a fixed-scope first product line. ERP and CAD integration are priced separately; see the pricing page.
