CPQ for Electrical Equipment Manufacturers
CPQ for electrical equipment manufacturers configures rated equipment, transformers, switchgear, switchboards, panels and motors, from the customer's electrical requirements, checks every selection against your ratings rules, and prices it from your costs. Ignitionary does this for electrical OEMs and panel builders, with quotes that carry the datasheet, nameplate data, one-line information and BOM the shop and the customer need.
What gets configured on electrical equipment
Rated products where every selection changes the design
Transformers
kVA rating, primary and secondary voltages, taps, winding material, cooling class, impedance, temperature rise and enclosure.
Switchgear and switchboards
Voltage class, bus rating, interrupting rating, breaker lineup, metering and protection; see the switchgear configurator.
Panels and control assemblies
Enclosure, components, wiring and labeling for panel builders, with the component list driving the BOM.
Motors
Output, voltage, frame and enclosure; see CPQ for motor manufacturers.
Enclosure and environment
Indoor or outdoor, NEMA or IP rating, corrosion protection and seismic requirements.
Testing and documents
Routine and optional tests, witness testing, drawings and submittal package contents.
Ratings rules an electrical equipment configurator enforces
Electrical equipment quotes fail on ratings: a combination that looks right commercially but does not coordinate electrically. These are the rules manufacturers typically encode, with limits from their own design standards.
- Conductors follow the rating. Bus, winding and cable sizes are derived from the current rating, voltage and temperature rise your designs allow, so the price includes the copper or aluminum the unit actually needs.
- Insulation follows the voltage class. Basic insulation level, clearances and bushings are tied to the selected voltage class, and options that do not match are removed.
- Short-circuit ratings coordinate. Interrupting and withstand ratings of breakers and bus are checked against the available fault current the customer states, and impedance selections are checked where they affect it.
- Enclosure follows the environment. Outdoor, washdown or corrosive locations restrict enclosure ratings and materials, and seismic zones pull in bracing options.
- Efficiency and market requirements. Where regional rules set minimum efficiency or listing requirements, such as US Department of Energy standards for distribution transformers, the configurator only offers compliant designs for that market, using the rules your compliance team provides.
When a rule fails, the configurator names it and shows the value against the limit, so sales can fix the selection or send the request to engineering with the reason attached.
What the shop and the customer get

Outputs
- Priced quote with options and testing
- Datasheet and nameplate data
- One-line and layout information for submittals
- Bill of materials and routing for production
- Test plan for routine and optional tests
- STL export where a 3D model is set up
Connected systems
- ERP items, costs and sales orders
- CRM opportunities and quotes
- Component catalogs for breakers and devices
- Rep and distributor portals
- CAD automation for outline drawings

The demo configures tubular heaters, which are rated electrical products too: watt density, voltage and current all follow from the selections

At the heating element manufacturer in our customer story, 200+ engineering formulas were encoded across 30+ product types, and quoting fell from 30 to 45 minutes to 3 to 5 with zero calculation errors since go-live.

Frequently asked questions
It is configure-price-quote software for rated electrical products such as transformers, switchgear, panels and motors. It builds a valid configuration from the customer's electrical requirements, checks it against ratings rules, prices it from cost data, and produces the quote with datasheets and a BOM.
Yes. kVA, voltages, taps, winding material, cooling class, impedance and temperature rise are configured against your design rules, and conductor sizes, insulation and enclosure follow from them so the price reflects the unit you would actually build.
Yes. Bus ratings, breaker lineups, interrupting ratings and enclosures are configured against coordination rules. The switchgear configurator page covers that product type in more detail.
For configurations inside your rules, it removes routine review. Requests outside the rules, or with requirements it does not cover, are routed to engineering with the failing rule attached.
Plans start at $1,500 a month with up to 5 sales seats and one product line. Implementation starts at $10,000 for a fixed-scope first product line. ERP and CAD integration are priced separately; see the pricing page.
